Bicyclists Beware- follow the rules of the road!

If you are hit by a motor vehicle while riding your bicycle, you may not be able to recover for your personal injuries if you are not following the “rules of the road”.  Bicyclists are required to ride with the traffic; that means in the same direction.  If you are struck by a motor vehicle while riding against traffic, you are likely to be found more than 50% at fault for the accident.  I always thought that horses and bicycles had the right of way at least in common law.  It’s important to know this because you are far more likely to be hurt if you are struck on a bicycle and you would be precluded from pursuing reimbursement for out of pocket medical bills and wages and pain and suffering.

With the good weather finally here, it’s especially important to share the road responsibly with everyone!
