So, you drive for Uber?

You’re making some decent money driving for Uber. That’s great! But have you given any thought to what would happend if you got into an accident while driving for Uber? Well you should.

If you have an Uber customer in your vehicle and you are involved in an accident, your insurance does not cover the loss. Uber carries secondary insurance that kicks in while you are “working” for them. The problem is that this secondary insurance carries a $1000.00 deductible for property damage. You would then have to go after the insurance company for the other driver to pay that deductible which can be a hassle. Ordinarily, people carry collision coverage on their own vehicles so they don’t have to chase down a different insurance company.

So before you take to the road for Uber, call your insurance agent and find out exactly what is covered and what isn’t. If you get into an accident while driving for Uber, contact your favorite Attorney to make sure your rights are protected.
